♚ OOC Name: Rakath Age: 30 Contact: ♛ IC Name: Willa Monday Canon: The Finder Canon Point: Post-Series Age: 16 Gender: Female Species: Human Personality: Life seemed to unilaterally come to a decision and say that Willa is going to be a criminal; an ordinary teenage life was out of Willa's reach from the day she was born. She's naturally gifted at her family business, and that business is crime. Romani upbringing makes her distrustful and separated from the rest of the world. For her, the world was very black and white, there's the family and then there’s everyone else. You do what is best for the family (and yourself), everyone else is a target. So crime is her second nature; she has no reservations about committing any 'evil' act if she sees a purpose for it. Even acts of violence that the family wouldn’t approve of, as they try not to draw attention by making headlines. Hacking is fun, pickpocketing gets her money, beating up a man who she felt didn't deserve to be happy, cheating at cards to repair a jukebox, all of them are good examples of her actions being a bit benevolent as far as she sees it (even as she commits crime after crime). Of course, just because she likes someone does not mean she works for free. She regularly charges her friends for her skills. On the outside Willa is cool, calm, collected, proud, guarded, and rather distrustful. She covers all responses with lies, plays it cool, and needles those around her to keep control of the situation. Very few can needle her and put her off her game. Whatever feelings she has she keeps them bottled up, unless sharing them serves a purpose. Caring is weakness, trusting is weakness, reaching out to 'straights' is weakness. Weakness she learned from a young age is something you protect, as people like her are out there to exploit them. At her core Willa is fire, she is passion, defiance, excitement, thrills, anger... and distrusting. She guards these aspects as each can lead to trouble. Defiance is used as a tool to annoy and play those around her, but in her family she knows her place. She does care about people, but showing it is unheard of with her family. She rarely acts out of anger or a desire to cause harm (but when she does one, the other is surely attached). But anger rarely works out, it's better to sit on those feelings. She doesn't understand optimism, nor does she get ‘looking at the silver lining’ of dark clouds. Seeing the good in others means missing when they’ll steal your wallet. You know, the way she usually intends to. Willa's greatest fear is a bit beyond being alone. Being alone is scary, but being vulnerable is the real danger. Most of the world writes her off, and she can accept that; she can live without most of the world. But some of the world has to look out for her, even if she isn't with them. Being contained is a different form of vulnerable she also fears, trapped in something that isn't hers, held by rules she doesn't desire. She wants Timo to be with the girl he loves, and she doesn't want to be in a loveless marriage. Willa’s spiritual side is a bit paradoxical. On the one hand Willa believes in spirits and magic, the beliefs of her family and that the world is greater than just the material. Voodoo being something she actively fears in the hands of a proper witch. And trust’s her friend can read the future with cards. In her other hand is technology and the future, which Willa holds as the key to success. She is more adept at computers than her employers, knows how to move through the Internet finding secrets to use (probably for blackmail, she doesn’t admit what they are for). She's very savvy when it comes to everything that’s contemporary and decries most everything older than her, technologically speaking. So, all in all, she's a clever, cunning, distrusting, opportunistic little criminal mastermind. Magic Weapon: Giuditta's Veil - A scarf. Of white and gray, beautiful embroidery and beadwork on it. The scarf, when pulled over one’s head like a hood, makes the owner less interesting. Primarily it completely douses one’s magical signature, and lowers the user’s threat profile drastically. King becomes Other, Other becomes Pawn, Pawn becomes not there. At it’s weakest the user’s features become hard to make out (but are still plainly visible otherwise), with practice people don’t want to notice you, and will miss you if they move their eyes too much. Scent and sound also become muddied and hard to pinpoint, but are still traceable to a degree. Enhanced senses better break through the deception of the scarf. Forming a spell interferes with the scarf’s camouflage, as does mana exchange. And the more the user interacts with the world, the more obvious they will be to anyone watching. So long as the hood is up over one’s head it will constantly drain mana until the user collapses (at which point the effect ends). The drain on a pawn level mana means about 10 minutes, queen level mana gets you about an hour (without other mana use). NOTE: Please keep in mind that many bosses and Heroes have magic resistance or enhanced senses and the effectiveness of your weapon will suffer as a result. Boss-level enemies will require teamwork, as they are too strong to be taken on in one-on-one combat. Second Weapon: None - Carrier: - An Arctic Marble Fox, with a habit of feigning injury for no discernible reason. Likes to laze around. Skills: Is it criminal? Willa can probably do it. She was eight when her first criminal activity was reported (selling candy for fake charities), and the family business is criminal activity. She’s very attentive, good with faces, counting cards, reading lips. She can pick pockets, case security, hotwire cars, hack digital accounts, basically anything that's fraud. She’s not a trained fighter, but enough time in prison, and plying the family trade, has her aware of how to hit people with a bludgeon. Also good at hiding objects on her person, like kitchen knives. You know, objects she’s stolen, or borrowed, which is another word for stolen. History: Willa’s life of crime started at birth. She was born to a gypsy mother and was raised with all the comforts and responsibilities that life entails. Loyalty to the family, and criminal activities, being party to cons and schemes as a child. Being an active participant at age eight, and it just rolled on from there. Her father was an outsider, so she was pushed to be extra loyal, out of fear she would be more of her father than her mother. At fifteen a simple robbery of a mom and pop jewelry store went wrong, one of the owners having a heart attack. Willa was caught and sent to Juvie, and then put out on parole. Where she got a job at a bar, The Ends of the Earth, doing odd jobs for the proprietor. The proprietor was a former lawyer, who found religious clarity after his friend stopped him from killing a man who killed his family. Said best friend is an ex-soldier, injured in combat and with an impressive skill at finding things. With these two as Willa’s legal guardians, they attempted to push her away from her life of crime and towards… a slightly more honorable and benevolent life of crime. Doing what she can to help others, and not just herself and the family. They were getting through to her, little by little. Unfortunately Willa was still tied to the family, and their ways. She was betrothed to her best friend. And as much as she would have liked her own life, she was still bound to her old life. She did everything she could to get out of her wedding, to allow her best friend to marry the girl he liked. And she wanted her freedom, as much as everything around her kept her chained in place. Eventually that choice drove her to run, leaving everyone she knew behind her. Breaking parole, abandoning her friends, and heading down a lonely road on her own. Which we never resolve because the show was canceled here. |
